Science & Genetics

To say the Cannabis plant is an incredible gift of nature is not in any way an embellishment. The magic contained in this plant has been used for thousands of years by people all over the world to help with a myriad of ailments including but certainly not limited to pain, seizures and even mental acuity.

However, as we are all aware, in the United States and many parts of the contemporary world these beneficial usages became shrouded in a veil of secrecy as it moved into the black market due to its unfounded criminalization in the 1930’s. This has caused suppression and even misperception of the beneficial properties to the majority of the law abiding populace who suffered the propaganda of the reefer madness generation.

The fact is that no one has ever died from an overdose of Cannabis because there are no THC receptors in the cardiac and respiratory systems of the brain stem, the areas that shut down the heart and lungs in the case of an overdose. That is why it is one of the safest medicines on earth.

It may surprise you that the American Nurses Association stated “Marijuana has been used medically for centuries. It has been shown to be effective in treating a wide range of symptoms and conditions”.

The 1988 discovery of the Humans Endocannabinoid system is one of the most compelling revelations regarding the efficacy of cannabis and its similarity to the human body. This system is the master regulator of homeostasis, utilizing the largest receptor system in the body. Cannabis plants contain over 600 chemical compounds called Cannabinoids and Terpenes, many of which are mirror images of the indigenous cannabinoids produced by the human body, the most famous being THC and CBD. Terpenes are the most common plant chemicals found in nature with over 30,000 identified to date. The Cannabis plant produces several hundred different terpenes, which are what generate the distinctive aromas and are the oils that provide much of the benefits of the Cannabis plant.

At Hobart BioSciences we have spent years working to develop genetically engineered strains of Cannabis that are rich in the specific cannabinoids and terpenes scientifically utilized for individual conditions. We grow natures medicine. We simply utilize science to focus individual benefits, and by following rigid, standardized protocols, we are able to provide consistent dose-able products from flower to more mainstream modalities like Capsules, Metered Dose Inhalers, Sublingual Films and Single Dose Tinctures making cannabis readily available and more palatable for the patients that need it.

By providing Physician education we empower the Medical Professionals to direct their patients’ care and help them navigate the implementation of Cannabis as a viable addition to their treatment protocols.
